It usually grows in wet areas where it is often found in dense posts. However, beyond the north and Canada appears on the well-removed tracks, usually with hard woods. The bark is fine, grey to reddish brown, separating in long, vertical and narrow strips. The foliage is similar to the scale; length 1/8 to 1/4 inches, ready to make small flat branches. In the autumn Thuja can shed about a third of his foliage. The fruit is small oblong cones that mature in a season, is yellowish, from 1/3 to 1/2 inches in size, with six to twelve scales and that are born singing or in large clusters in extreme branches. The seeds are 1/8 inches long, with 2 narrow wings almost surrounding the seed. The wood is light, soft, fragile, thick grenade, durable, fragrant and pale brown in color. It is especially important to make poles close (which I hope none of you will have to do with your bonsai), construction of poles, hardwood, and herpes. Note: It is one of the preferred and important species to navigate the deer in the winter, so do not feed the deer. When used for bonsai the style of drift wood is popular for this "cedar" as the wood is relatively soft, well granulated and easy to carve. Pruning and wiring can be done throughout the growth period. The combination of new growth results in short and dense foliage. Although the return to the old wood has been noticed in nature, it has not been seen in bonsai. Autumn breakage can be controlled by the timely pruning and the pinch at the end of summer (September). The replacement can be done in the spring, always before the first of June. Replace every three years. The pottery mix must be well draining. Thuja has very thin roots that will be dazzled very easily. Thuja will tolerate the root pod well. Fertilize with a high nitrogen fertilizer 30-10-10 that will give a deep green color to the foliage; apply every two weeks in the growing season. A lower nitrogen fertilizer can also be used as a well-balanced 20-20-20. Different fertilizer marks are recommended. Thuja is tolerant to be kept a bit dry, but if you are not sure, water like the rest of your bonsai would, but do not keep it extra wet. There are no plagues or diseases to talk about when he is in bonsai. Thuja must be cultivated with full sun. Winter care is simple, as they are very hard, tolerating under zero temperatures. The smaller trees could be dug on the ground up to the top of the pot and shaken, or the winter on how the rest of your bonsai would do it outdoors. The protection of the wind must be provided as with all the bonsai here in the north. This is one of the easiest species to use for bonsai.
